An independent set of notes on running public talks, written by organisers for organisers.

This is not an event and does not sell tickets to one. It is a set of working notes, published because the same mistakes recur at events of every size and almost none of them are written down.
The perspective is small-to-medium public events: a few dozen to a few hundred people, organised by people with other jobs. Large commercial conferences operate under constraints these notes do not address.
Nothing here is sponsored and no venue, platform or supplier is recommended. Disagreements from people who organise events are welcome — several pages exist because somebody pushed back on an earlier version.
